First attempt at making a tombstone, second attempt at working with house insulation foam Home Depot.
I had already used an old steak knife to cut the foam into the shape I wanted ( a simple curved top ).
Printed out a design and traced it into the foam with an Exacto knife.
Used a soldering iron to melt out the text. It's a little sloppier than cutting it out with an exacto knife, but much quicker.
I then filled in the cracks with some watered down shutter paint. Quickly wipe any excess off the surface with paper towels.
Coated the exterior with grey paint and sprayed it with a clear sealant. (I should have used monster mudd to eliminate the horizontal line across the front.)
Drilled holes in the bottom barely large enough for 1/2" dowels to fit. I use foot long dowels as stakes to keep the tombstones steady.
